Company Performance Metrics
Notgroundbreaking is a biodesign studio and research practice that harnesses decomposition as a tool for more sustainable and circular design. The company focuses on textile waste, studying how natural and treated fibres break down and how their lifecycles affect soil health. Its Decomposition Library collects and documents textile decomposition
experiments to support material literacy and inform fashion and textile design decisions. Building on this research, its Grown from Textile Waste system sources obsolete, undyed textiles and introduces them to biotic agents such as bacteria, fungi, worms, and insects to regenerate waste into new material resources. Notgroundbreaking collaborates through exhibitions, talks, and projects to integrate decomposition processes into contemporary material and fashion design practice.
