The National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDDS) has a half century worth of experience working on behalf of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Representing state agencies, as well as US districts and territories, the NASDDDS provides a responsive resource when it comes to service
systems meeting goals such as effectively reaching people and providing them with meaningful support that respects dignity, rights, and independence.
The NASDDDS administers National Core Indicators (NCI)-IDD, a voluntary family of surveys that enables states to measure performance and outcomes across health, employment, service planning, choice, and safety. The NASDDDS helps states structure face-to-face surveys, as well as mail surveys, which provide an accurate snapshot of everything from family outcomes to whether individuals have choices about where they reside.
The NASDDDS also provides a forum for developing initiatives at state and national policy levels. It helps states comply with federal statutory and regulatory policies and access peer support and networking opportunities. One state-level executive in Hawaii lauded the NASDDDS for consistently representing their state’s concerns and interests at the national level as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold. They described the NASDDDS as “an invaluable and responsive resource.”
