About the Company
Mdali builds private, offline AI for the markets cloud AI ignores. Our models run 100% on-device - they work with no signal, no data, during load-shedding - and nothing a user types ever leaves the phone. Our first product, Thandi, is a Socratic maths tutor for South African CAPS FET learners (Grades 10–12) that guides learners to the answer
instead of giving it. From a single teacher demo in June 2026, Thandi reached a founding cohort of 45 teachers across 28 schools, generating hundreds of on-device tutoring exchanges. Mdali open-sources its model weights (Apache-2.0) as an African public good while sustaining the work through institutional and commercial licensing.
