MatchUP Global is an EdFinTech B2B2C smart ecosystem that matches and engages prospective students and higher education institutions all over the world, offering at the same time and in the same place, customized solutions geared for eliminating internationalization roadblocks.
In MatchUP we truly believe that inequalities can be tackled by
guaranteeing access to education. Education is the response to an imbalance in opportunities and gives each individual the freedom to take control of their own destiny. We believe we all have the right to access quality education. For this reason, our mission is to democratize it by: +Allowing prospective students, regardless of their age, gender, condition, religion, beliefs, nationality, or location, access to higher education in any place in the world they wish to study. + Helping educational institutions to reach all their possible target audiences, no matter their budget.
According to UNESCO, the number of students studying abroad continues to grow worldwide, having increased from 4M to 5.7M between 2012 – 2021, equivalent to 2,40% of total higher education students (Total students in HE have grown from 198 to 238M in the same given period). However, in the Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) region, from a total of 30.8M students engaged in higher education, only 360k are studying abroad (1,16%). Higher education students from LAC region are eager to follow the global trend of studying abroad, however only 1 in 10 can. This low conversion rate can be explained by 5 main reasons: 1. Lack of knowledge of global academic opportunities and the specific requirements of each country (7%) 2. Almost non-existence of financial support (63%) 3. Inefficient admissions services provided by the universities (9%) 4. Lack of knowledge of available scholarships (13%) 5. Language barriers (8%)
MatchUP is currently solving these issues, and we are on our way to scaling up and expanding so many more prospective students can reach this goal.
