Though 2012 marked its 200th anniversary, Lycoming College is not the type of school to get bogged down by tradition. Lycoming embraces change and progress, as evidenced by its extensive sustainability efforts. The Clean Water Institute, for example, works to study and preserve Pennsylvania’s natural water sources.
This commitment to conservation
extends to Lycoming’s academics, as well. The college offers majors in Environmental Science, Environmental Sustainability and Sustainable Business Management. Of course, these are just a few of Lycoming’s 35+ majors, which range from Chemistry to Multiculturalism.
In terms of student life, Lycoming College offers several opportunities to get involved on campus. These include service organizations like Amnesty International, art groups like the Creative Arts Society and philosophical clubs like the Atheists Society. Lycoming also features nearly 10 fraternities and sororities and several NCAA Division III teams.
Lycoming College requires all applicants to submit an official high school transcript, two letters of recommendation and a personal essay. Lycoming’s admissions are unique in that they don’t require ACT or SAT scores. If you choose, you can instead submit the Optional Choice form with two graded high school writing samples.
In addition to state and federal financial aid, Lycoming offers institutional scholarships and grants. Grants are awarded based on need, while scholarships are based on artistic talent, community service or academic performance.
