Our company’s journey began with big ’wood batteries’, meant to be storing energy from solar or windmill parks. That is where our name comes from, “Ligna” translates to “woods” in Latin. In 2021 a strategic decision was made and the team shifted focus towards ultrathin and small bio-based supercapacitors for connected electronic wireless devices. In 2023 we released the S-Power 2 (1.2F) and added in 2024 a smaller size (60mF) intended for Smart Card applications. In 2025 a sodiom battery version of our ultrathin component was added (in JDA set-up with key customers). The time for self-powered and lightweight electronics is here!
