About the Company
LifeMech is a nonprofit initiative founded in 2020 to address global ventilator shortages during the COVID-19 pandemic. Led by Executive Director and Co-Founder Saurabh Gupta, MD, the team of over 150 engineers, physicians, and innovators developed an FDA-authorized, open-source ventilator platform supported by $150K in funding from Intel.
LifeMech’s design was released under the MIT Creative Commons license, enabling rapid, low-cost manufacturing worldwide. The project exemplifies mission-driven, collaborative innovation at the intersection of medicine, engineering, and public health.
