Kalpana and Uma Jha started this business to take Mithila’s authentic taste to people who have once lived in the region but have since moved out for work or education. Over the last 30 years, both of them have been shipping pickles to friends and
family everywhere from New Delhi to New York.
In a little over 18 months, the business has profitably sold pickles worth more than Rs. 5 Crores to 60,000+ customers all over the country and has received 2500+ 5-star reviews.
The pickles are made using local, all-natural ingredients and spices sourced from small-scale farmers and traders in Samastipur and Muzaffarpur. JhaJi’s pickles are completely free of all artificial or chemical preservatives and colors.
JhaJi Store is an honest and conscious business that employs mostly underprivileged women, but also men, who have seen their family income triple in the few months they have been working with JhaJi. The business also spends 2% of its revenues directly towards the cause of girl child education.
