World Bank & DBJ JASMEF was chosen by the Development Bank of Jamaica in partnership with the World Bank (see the official Press Release) as the winning proposal in a global contest to select a fund manager for a SME private equity fund. The contest and this fund have been made possible by the
World Bank-Jamaica Access to Finance for MSMEs Project.
Focus on Caribbean SMEs JASMEF is an SME Impact Private Equity fund investing growth capital into Caribbean SMEs that have committed promoters with high integrity, proven management and scalable business models. JASMEF's geographical focus is on Jamaica and certain other member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), in particular: Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. In addition, the Dominican Republic as well as the Dutch Caribbean are also in scope.
Growth, Jobs & Impact JASMEF provides Caribbean SMEs with access to growth capital combined with capacity-building and technical assistance in order to enable higher levels of business growth, productivity, job creation and exports. Crucially, JASMEF will also help its portfolio companies enhance their ESG standards and wider positive impacts for their communities throughout the region.
