Higgs Corp. has filed for a patent on a product called Snorkel Switch. Snorkel Switch remedies the one design flaw of most table and floor lamps. It brings the switch out of hiding and makes it unobtrusively visible and easily accessible just below the inside top of the lampshade. It does not eliminate the ability to turn a lamp on or off at its
original switch. Snorkel Switch attaches to a lamp in one minute without use of any tools. It does not interfere with the tilting of the lampshade and does not have to be removed to change the light bulb.
Lamp sockets are built to international standards. To secure the patent on Snorkel Switch would mean there is an untouched global market for a product that has no competition.
