Hands & Voices is a parent-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, offering unbiased assistance regardless of communication modes or methodologies. Their mission is to provide families with the resources, networks, and information necessary to enhance communication access
and improve educational outcomes for children. The organization envisions a world where children who are deaf and hard of hearing have every opportunity to achieve their full potential. Hands & Voices offers various programs and projects, including the Guide By Your Side (GBYS) program, which provides direct parent-to-parent support through trained parent guides, and the Advocacy Support and Training (ASTra) program, focusing on educational advocacy to help families navigate special education laws and ensure appropriate services. Additionally, the Family Leadership in Language and Learning (FL3) Center aims to increase family engagement and leadership within Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) systems. The organization also emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion through initiatives like the Latino Council, which supports Spanish-speaking families, and the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH) Infusion initiative, ensuring meaningful involvement of D/HH individuals at all organizational levels. Hands & Voices operates multiple chapters across the United States and internationally, providing localized support and resources to families worldwide.
