About the Company
GeoMet was founded as a consulting firm in 1985 by three geologists with backgrounds in the coal mining and related coal degasification industry. The GeoMet staff has been directly involved with coalbed methane since 1977, working for USX Corporation in developing the first large-scale degasification field in the United States at the Oak Grove Mine
in Alabama. This project became the model for subsequent coalbed methane projects in the Black Warrior basin.
