ERA is the trade association representing a large majority of retailers and digital services offering music, video and games. Its members include independent record shops, internet retailers, specialist high street operators, supermarkets and digital services. ERA co-owns the Official Charts Company and organises Record Store Day in the UK.
Established in 1988, the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) is the UK trade body representing the interests of physical and digital retailers of entertainment such as music, video and video games, a market worth over £5billion per annum.
ERA works closely with the supplier organisations such as the BPI, the BVA and UKIE in areas of relevant to entertainment retail. ERA also participates in a number of related bodies such as the VSC, BBFC, The Industry Trust and the Alliance for Intellectual Property.
ERA also exists to communicate and negotiate with government departments and local authorities on behalf of its members, to monitor legislation affecting its members and to oppose any legislation which might be contrary to member's interests.
ERA's aims are to ensure the highest standards of retail and wholesale in the industry, and to encourage and provide formal and informal contact between members, the public and the industry.
ERA's business is conducted via a Board of 20 elected from the association's members.
