Doctor-U is a video consultation platform between patients and healthcare professionals with a totally free access model and not limited to a health specialty. Entrepreneurs Manuel J. Rodríguez, Damián Salinas, and Julio Miranda launched the startup in 2013, with the intention of bringing the doctor's consultation to the users. These can
consult medical specialists about their health problems, without the need to move or endure long waiting lists.
Doctor-U started at the Business Nursery of the Francisco de Vitoria University (Madrid). So far they have not convened any round of investment or have needed external financing. The application is available throughout Spain, with more than 120 healthcare professionals. To date, more than 150 users have used their services. The company's business model offers great possibilities for scalability and internationalization, as well as migration to other sectors.
Its differential value lies in its face-to-face video consultation tool, which is offered free of charge to healthcare professionals, without discharge or maintenance fees and is monetized in the patient according to their consumption. In addition, Doctor-U guarantees the validation of each registered professional, which is adapted to the needs of the patients. Users receive a reward for inviting friends to use the application.
