Docs4GreatApes is a charitable organization that focuses on the long-term survival of endangered great apes through education-centered conservation programs. The organization develops and supports veterinary training initiatives, including undergraduate integration, field placements, and postgraduate scholarships that build local wildlife health
expertise in primate-range countries. Through projects such as the Wildlife ConserVet Education Project, Docs4GreatApes helps create sustainable networks of wildlife clinicians and policy makers who can address threats like zoonotic disease affecting both apes and nearby communities. It also undertakes community health and well-being initiatives that reduce disease transmission and foster cooperation in great ape habitats. In addition, Docs4GreatApes produces educational materials, including the book Just Like Us, to raise awareness of conservation challenges and support its programs. Its work is aimed at enabling gorillas, chimpanzees, bonobos, and orangutans to coexist with human populations in shared ecosystems.
