DE-CIX is an internet exchange that provides internet exchange services and operates several carrier and data center-neutral internet exchanges in various metro markets in Europe, the Middle East, and North America. It also provides the infrastructure for the bilateral settlement-free exchange of internet traffic, called peering, between all types
of internet service providers, including broadband providers, content delivery networks, web hosts, and incumbent operators.
DE-CIX operates advanced peering platform DE-CIX Apollon. Today, more than 700 customers from over 60 nations use DE-CIX’s platforms to lower costs, reduce latency, and increase IP performance and resilience. By serving customers in all data center facilities at its internet exchanges, it enhances its customer’s ability to expand their business and exchange internet traffic.
DE-CIX was founded in 1995, and it operates internet exchanges in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Palermo, Marseille, Istanbul, Dubai, New York, and Dallas. It is wholly owned by the eco association, the largest internet industry association in Europe.
