The firm was founded by in 1906 as WH Cork & Co, a practice
largely focused on helping underperforming businesses and those facing insolvency. In 1935, founder WH Cork formed a partnership with his sons and created Cork Gully.
In 1980 the firm, now the country's pre-eminent insolvency firm, merged with Cooper & Lybrand (the latter becoming PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC)). This period ended when the current management bought the firm from PwC in 2010.
In 2022 Cork Gully established Cork Gully Asset Management to advise and manage investment funds (both regulated and unregulated investment funds) as sub-advisors and replacement managers.
