Company Performance Metrics
Care 24 is a private Swedish medical services company with operations since December 2020. To date, the company has conducted and processed over 150,000 diagnostic tests.
It currently operates two centrally located medical centers in Gothenburg and Malmö in the south of Sweden. The centers offer a selection of point-of-care, same-day pathology
tests for the most common diseases and health issues as well as vaccines. These services are available via online booking or drop-in and are paid for out of pocket by the patient.
The company is now looking to evolve into full service medical centers with a revolutionary healthcare concept in order to capitalize on existing market opportunities and to strengthen the current private offerings.
Care24 will be offering an integrated and locally contained clinical practice and pathology model that excels in customer service delivery and innovative and timely practices and will reduce waiting times after the first medical appointment by up to 80%. The idea is centered around an in-house point-of-care laboratory in every center, thus removing the need for external 3rd party laboratories for testing and significantly reducing turnaround times.
Swedish Public Healthcare provides significant opportunities as it is a universal care model with an annual expenditure of $69,02 billion, or 11% of the country’s GDP. It is the 3rd highest in the EU relative to GDP. Public healthcare is a recession-proof business, and government investments rarely fluctuate.
Healthcare is decentralized and managed by the regions. In primary care, the market is dominated by regionally run medical centers; however, since the introduction of a free choice system, where patients are entitled to choose their healthcare provider, the private sector has grown significantly, now representing around 38% of primary care nationwide and still growing. In the Stockholm region, nearly 70% of medical centers are privately operated.
The health system is characterized by difficult access to care and lengthy waiting times and treatment delays despite a national medical access guarantee. Recent developments in health care have focused on the accessibility problem, giving rise to a number of digital medical care providers who use online consultations and state-of-the-art apps to facilitate access. The pandemic has assisted this shift to digital; however, a large issue still exists once patients enter the system, with significant delays occurring in the initial appointment - testing - follow-up - treatment/referral stage and no current solutions or innovations are available in the market. Care 24 seeks to capitalize on this opportunity.
Our patient base will be focused on all Swedish residents situated in the catchment areas of our center locations, which constitutes an estimated 5.4million people, but Care 24’s potential target markets could expand beyond the geographical constrictions as a result of our digital services.
Marketing efforts will focus on emphasizing the real point of difference that exists with the Care 24 operational concept and highlight this via engaging and customer focused content and advertising. Efforts will also focus on becoming the most empathic, accessible and approachable health provider in the country, thus customer experience design will form a large part of our strategy. The key is to keep patients engaged with relevant, personalized, and timely outreach throughout their journeys.
Financial projections are excellent, with a profit of $10 million expected by the 3rd year.
This is based on the projection of 3 centers opening as primary care centers in Gothenburg, Malmö and Stockholm within the first year and reaching 10,000 patient listings and six appointments per year per listing within three years.
To be able to keep developing this project, we are requesting 3M$ of funding, which will be used to create a comprehensive digital application for digital consultation and information, marketing, the development of a primary public center in the existing locations, and the realization of a third location in the capital of Sweden.
