Association for Learning Technology (ALT) is a professional organization that aims to spread the use of technological tools in learning, teaching, and assessing. The association encourages the use of learning technology, promotes research and practice, influences strategies and policies, represents members from various sectors, supports leadership
and professional development, and offers publications.
The public can get involved in ALT’s work by participating in its governance, joining a Special Interest Group, contributing research, or undertaking professional development. Its membership is open to anyone with an interest in learning technology across the UK and internationally in all learning and training contexts.
Association for Learning Technology organizes one-day conferences, workshops, webinars, and an annual conference for learning technologists. ALT Learning Technologist of the Year Award and Outstanding and Best Research Paper Awards are offered by the association to celebrate and reward excellent practice and outstanding achievement in the learning technology field.
The association produces a wide range of publications for its members and the wider learning technology community which includes an online newsletter; a peer reviewed journal, Research in Learning Technology; conference publications; occasional publications on a variety of themes; its not-for-profit YouTube channel; the ALT wiki; a fortnightly emailed News Digest; and a variety of policy consultation responses.
