Company Performance Metrics
- Craig Ruurds: CTO
- Paris Roger: Founder & CEO
Afraflix is an online streaming service for the purpose of streaming African content worldwide. Our company is in a very unique position, because there is no other worldwide streaming service offering as much online content as we will be offering. There are a number of small operations worldwide, but nothing currently exists on such a grand scale.
The most watched films in the world are African films, with Nigeria (Nollywood), being the most watched other than Indian (Bollywood) films. With production of over 200 new films, on average, every month in Nigeria, that’s over 2,400 films per year. Once we begin to include other African nations such as Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, and others internationally, we find that there is more content from African Producers than ever before.
This is the brainchild of Paris Roger who discovered, in 2010, that most African films that were produced did not have a very big shelf life. Instead, most of the films in Africa were made by a group located in Nigeria. The industry (called Nollywood) in West Africa, make films with little budget, and the distribution of the films are done by large companies in Europe, Canada, and the United States.
This untapped market is so significant, that within the first 2 years, we conservatively expect subscribers to Afraflix to approximate, on average, between 1 million to 2 million.
