ActoBio Therapeutics develops therapeutic agents that treat a number of diseases, primarily on disease areas with high unmet needs. It develops a new class of therapeutic agents called ActoBiotics, a targeted, microbe-based, specifically designed agents that locally provide potential disease-modifying therapeutics to treat a range of disorders,
such as immune-related diseases. ActoBiotics is based on the safe food-grade bacterium, Lactococcus lactis, which is used in the making of cheeses and other foods. Lactococcus lactis is engineered to develop specific therapeutic agents for delivery directly to the relevant tissue, thus making therapeutic applications across many diseases. This holds safer and more efficacious treatments than injectable agents.
The company has a strong research and development pipeline with stage candidate in Phase IIb, and an extensive portfolio of candidates ready for clinical development across a wide range of potential indications. ActoBio Therapeutics was founded on 2006 and is headquartered in Ghent. Belgium.
