George Riedel joined Cloudmark as Chief Executive Officer to drive the company to its next phase of growth and meet demand for innovative network security solutions. In addition to his role at Cloudmark, George is on several boards including the Chairman of the Board of Montreal-based Accedian Networks, a director at PeerApp in Boston and a
director at Tessera Technologies in San Jose.
In March 2006, he joined Nortel Networks as part of the turnaround team as the CSO in Toronto. His role changed in 2009 to lead the sale and restructuring of various business units through a series of transactions generating over $4B. In 2010, he was promoted to President of Business Units and CSO as he took leadership of the effort to monetize the remaining 6500 patents and applications patents as well as manage the P&L for several business units that were held for sale. The 2011 patent sale led to an unprecedented transaction of $4.5B to a consortium of Apple, Ericsson, RIM, Microsoft and EMC.
Prior to joining Nortel, he was VP of Strategy and M&A for Juniper Networks in Sunnyvale, CA from 2003-2006, leading a series of acquisitions that doubled the size of the company over two years.
Previously, he was a Director at McKinsey & Company where he spent 15 years serving clients in the telecom and technology sectors in Asia and North America on a range of strategy and growth issues.
He has a BS with Distinction in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Virginia and an MBA from Harvard University.
