With nearly 30 years of clinical, research, and teaching experience at some of the finest institutions in the country, Ashok believes firmly that best outcomes are achieved through a combination of talk therapy (psychotherapy) and psychoactive medications (psychopharmacology). Unlike most practices, he schedules the duration and frequency of client visits solely based on the appropriate level of clinical need, not payment considerations. The initial visit (and more, if needed) are purely consultative, and serve to develop a treatment plan that is commensurate with the client's treatment goals, extent of commitment to the therapeutic process, and any financial considerations that may apply. No physician-patient relationship is considered to be established until both parties mutually agree to move forward. The in-depth intake process allows opportunity for open, collaborative dialogue and fine tuning of the treatment plan. Additionally, it also allows for the early identification of patient-therapist mismatch in which case arrangements can be made to refer the client to someone with a more appropriate skill set and personal chemistry for their presenting problem.
