Young Se Kim received a BFA in Industrial Design from Seoul National University, and a BA in Industrial Design from University of Illinois Chicago. In 1978 he received a MFA in Industrial Design from University of Illinois Chicago, Illinois. He also served as Assistant Professor of Industrial Design at University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign from
1980 to 1982.
In 1986, Young Se Kim founded INNODESIGN, Inc. in Palo Alto, California. As INNODESIGN’s client base continued to grow internationally, Young decided to establish studios in Seoul and in Beijing, in 1999 and in 2005 respectively. The company has grown to a multinational design consulting organization. Many of INNODESIGN’s clients’ products are renowned as the world's most advanced digital products.
Young Se Kim also launched his own designer brand called INNO. The INNO brand strives to foster “the design mind” allowing people recognize the importance of design and its impact it can have for society.
