William G. Bowe founded the ABCO Automatic Sprinkler Company in 1958 with his father in law, Anthony Robillotta, while working as a sprinkler fitter after returning from his service in the Korean War. A graduate of Manhattan College’s School of Business in 1951, Bill saw an opportunity to be a part of a growing market and closed ABCO’s first
contract on his 30th birthday. Over the next 30 plus years of his career, Bill led ABCO Automatic through a series of changes, the largest being the acquisition of Peerless Automatic Sprinkler and Modern Sprinkler to form the ABCO Peerless Sprinkler Corporation in 1972. Bill served as a steward to the fire sprinkler industry for many years, starting the New York Sprinkler Contractors Association, serving as the President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of New York and holding various positions in the National Fire Sprinkler Association, where he was inducted into the Fire Sprinkler Hall of Fame in 2008. Bill earned the 3rd license issued to Master Fire Suppression Piping Contractors in the City of New York in the early 1990s and held many other such licenses in the greater New York Metropolitan area.
