Boston-bred and reared, Wes calls Boston University his alma mater, having earned his Bachelors degree in economics there with honors. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the Boston Security Analyst Society and the CFA Institute. Industry conferences call on him regularly to speak on the art and science of hedge fund investing and the modeling of private and institutional portfolios.
Wes has considerable consulting experience catering to private investors, trusts and foundations in the areas of investment portfolio design & construction, risk management and asset location. He advises private and institutional investors alike in their investment portfolio risk-management strategies. Wes brings active, day-to-day involvement to the firms clients, parlaying the investment process into each family’s mission, where family governance, intergenerational planning, investment education, and the crafting of a mission statement are vital projects in achieving long term results.
Prior to co-founding TwinFocus, Wes co-managed The Karger Group at UBS Financial Services, advising clients and managing their positions in equity, fixed income and alternative investments. He launched his career at State Street Corporation, and rose to assume a position working with the Investment Portfolio Group of State Street Global Markets, the body responsible for managing the banks proprietary balance sheet portfolio.
Wes is denizen of Boston’s historic South End where he resides with his wife, Ashley. He devotes his spare time to advising non-profit organizations in the greater Boston area on ways to promote the arts and education. Local area associations know him well for his support work and strong commitment to the community. He sits on several boards and investment committees. Wes chairs the investment committee responsible for managing the Massachusetts College of Art & Design Foundation portfolio.
