Wei Cao is Investment Director with BlueRun China. Wei joined BlueRun in Nov. 2010 and is based in Beijing. Wei focuses on internet SNS/gaming, e-commerce, and wireless application investments.
Prior to BlueRun, Wei serves as Investment Director of Daiwa Corporate Investment’s China arm, assisting the fund’s localization, investment and
portfolio management. Founded by Daiwa Securities Group, Daiwa Corporate Investment (ex-name: NIF SMBC Capital) is the pioneer of Japanese VC industry, managing around 2,700 portfolios in Japan and over 300 worldwide, including 15 portfolios in China market.
Prior to DCI, Wei is professional of China Renaissance Partners (CRP), where he led and participated in over ten private equity financing and M&A transactions with over $200 million worth of transactions closed mainly in telecom, internet (SNS/gaming), and wireless sectors. CRP is a leading boutique investment bank from China.
During undergraduate time, Wei won several Champions of China national gaming events and participate World Cyber Game 2001 as player representative of China national team. Wei receives M.S. in Financial Management from Aberdeen Business School of UK and B.S. from Beijing Union University.
Wei also serves as Deputy Secretary General of China TMT Association, an industry association registered under MIIT of China.
