Walter J. Echols has held the position of Vice President – Real Estate, managing all of the real estate assets of ArcBest Corporation® and its subsidiaries, which include about 300 owned and leased locations throughout the contiguous United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
Walter Echols’ responsibilities include overseeing real estate
construction, maintenance, leasing and environmental compliance. Throughout ArcBest’s rapid growth into a full-service logistics and transportation provider, Walter Echols has effectively consolidated or liquidated assets obtained through mergers and acquisitions, achieving a high return on capital employed.
As one of the longest-tenured ArcBest℠ executives, he joined the company in June 1975 with the subsidiary Data-Tronics Corp. (now ArcBest Technologies). He held various positions there until 1987 when he began work in the Real Estate Department of ArcBest.
Throughout his career, Walter Echols has served as chairman on numerous boards, including the trade organization Terminal Properties Exchange, the United Way of Fort Smith Area, and Mercy Hospital Fort Smith. Walter Echols is a 1975 graduate of the University of Arkansas.
