Champion Mitchell has run two multi-billion dollar corporations, headed two successful technology start-ups and led four turnarounds of troubled companies. Today he is the Chairman and CEO of Network Solutions, the world's largest provider of domain names and one of the largest providers of websites and domain based email. After turning around
Network Solutions and making it a successful, customer responsive and cash positive business, Mitchell led its recent buyout and separation from VeriSign.
While at VeriSign, Mitchell also was the executive vice-president and general manager of its Mass Markets Division. In addition to heading the VeriSign domain name registration unit, he also had VeriSign's digital certificate business (SSL) and VeriSign Payment Services, the largest Internet payment gateway reporting to him.
Prior to taking leadership of this registrar, he founded, headed and sold two successful technology startups in the VOIP area.
Mitchell has served as a senior executive in a number of large corporations, including as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company before, during and after its buyout by KKR in the largest LBO in history.
