He received his Ph.D. degree in 1997 from the University of Leeds, UK and holds M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in chemistry from the University of Bristol, UK. His research interests have included ceramic processing,
preparation, and characterization of single crystals and ferroelectric thin films; actuator design and prototyping; and the use of synchrotron and neutron radiation to study stress, phase, and magnetic structure.
