As the director of sustainability and energy conservation at Parklands Hospital, Dr. Stacey Bauer oversees the organization’s strategy toward meeting sustainability initiatives. She leverages her strong educational background and certifications in environmental science, law, and climate, as well as a robust career in the same areas, to guide the
in-house team on economically sustainable practices and liaise with external stakeholders, including business leaders and facilities departments. Dr. Stacey Bauer must constantly update herself on the industry’s trends and regulatory requirements, such as certifications, to ensure compliance and effective oversight of her division.
Dr. Bauer previously worked as a global procurement sustainability manager at PepsiCo under its subsidiary, Fri-Lay. Her roles included the implementation of the company’s sustainability goals, such as greenhouse gas emissions, soil and water health, variety commercialization, and storage research. This entailed working with a diverse team of specialists and overseeing and implementing a budget exceeding $150 million. Dr. Bauer’s other stints include serving as a research scientist at Oregon State University in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
In addition to her law degree, Dr. Stacey Bauer holds a doctorate in environmental science and climate as well as certifications in the industry from various institutions. These include Climate Change: The Science and Global Impact, Sustainable Communities and Environmental Change in Latin America, United States Public Policy: Social, Economic, and Foreign, and Post-Crisis Leadership.
