After he earned his bachelor of arts in psychology from San Francisco State University, Samuel Kolb worked as a programmer for several years with companies such as Eidos and Activision. During this time, he coded for games that include Tomb Raider: Legend, Spider-Man 2, and titles in the X-Men franchise. In 2007, Samuel Kolb became Senior Software
Engineer and Manager at Linden Lab, where he combined his 3-D technology and leadership experience for a cloud-based rendering and media-technology project.
Throughout the next few years, Kolb served as the director of technology and the interim studio manager for Electronic Arts and then as the director of new-product development at Creative Channel Services. In 2014, he co-founded Red Lozenge, Inc., where he served as the chief executive officer of this health and fitness game company. Two years later, he accepted a position as the senior director of engineering with SurveyMonkey and assisted with platform engineering.
In his leisure time, Samuel Kolb enjoys cooking, playing poker, and taking photographs with his Canon EOS D60. He also plays Ultimate frisbee and competes on the Shadows and Old Growth teams for the Bay Area Grand Masters.
