Roberto Battiston is President of the Italian Space Agency. He is the Chair of General Physics in the Physics Department at the University of Trento, Trento and Rovereto, Trentino, Italy. Battiston is a member of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, the governmental committee advising the Minister of Research and University. He has worked
for over 30 years in international collaborations in experimental physics and fundamental interactions. Battiston is a devoted researcher in the fields of frontier detectors and technologies and the characterization of materials and devices to be used in space conditions. He is the author of more than 420 papers published on international scientific journals, and has organized several workshops devoted to space science and advanced technologies. Battiston holds a Bachelor's Degree at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Italy; a Doctorate (Troiseime Cycle) at University Paris-Dauphine (Paris IX), Orsay; and an Honorary Bachelor's Degree from the University of Bucharest, Romania.
