Pascal Brandys' background includes extensive, successful experience in global commercial operations and international finance. Mr. Brandys was previously Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Genset, a biotechnology company that he co-founded in 1989 and which he grew to a market capitalization of over $1.5 billion. While at Genset, Mr.

Brandys created joint ventures and subsidiaries on four continents, including establishing operations in San Diego, Japan, Singapore and Australia. Mr. Brandys was also a founder and President of France Biotech, the first professional association of French biotechnology companies from 1997 to 2000. Mr. Brandys has held numerous corporate directorships and is currently a Director of Ceres Inc., a bioenergy crop company (NASDAQ:CERE). From 1988 to 1989, Mr. Brandys was a Partner at Eurocontinental Ventures in London. At Eurocontinental Ventures, Mr. Brandys managed technology and biotechnology investments in Europe, notably in Ilog S.A. and Innogenetics NV. In 1986 he founded and became Chief Executive Officer of Unihon Services, a company providing corporate finance and venture capital services in Japan. Mr. Brandys is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique of Paris, holds an MS in Civil Engineering from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees of Paris and an MS in Economic Systems from Stanford University. He received the Outstanding Service to Biotechnology Award from the European Life Sciences Partnering Foundation in 1999.
