As VP for New Ventures at Northeastern University, I lead a cross-functional team to incubate new business ideas, diversify revenue streams, and advance a new model of higher education. They are currently piloting three new ventures: Learnx (www.learnx.co), Experiential Network (www.experientialnetwork.org), and Level (www.leveledu.com).
I'm a Techstars mentor and angel investor in Able, Cratejoy, Crayon, Dunwello, Experiment Engine, Greycork, Konekt, Libboo, Nimble, Owl Investments, Panorama Education and TrueLens.
Previously, as VP for Content & Operations at Boundless, I led the content team where I hired, trained and managed six direct reports and 300+ SMEs to grow their content coverage 7X from three subjects to 21 while at the same time reducing their production costs by 67%. I also managed their HR and legal functions, and led their affiliate and field marketing teams. I developed key relationships with Apple and Amazon and helped successfully settle a lawsuit with Pearson and other publishers. During my time at Boundless, they increased their monthly usage to over 3 million students and educators. Boundless was acquired by Valore in 2015.
I co-founded Infochimps and led the company as its initial CEO, raising venture capital and growing the team and business during the company's formative years. While CEO, I led the acquisitions of Data Marketplace (YC W10) and Keepstream (Capital Factory 2010), and negotiated and closed numerous data partnerships, including with Microsoft, Amazon, and Foursquare. Infochimps was acquired by CSC (NYSE:CSC) in 2013.
After graduating from The University of Texas School of Law with Honors, I was a corporate and securities attorney at a leading international law firm, working with startups and VC funds in company formation, debt and equity financings, M&A, and public offerings. I represented companies and investors in over 25 financings raising an aggregate of over $250 million. I'm licensed to practice law in MA and TX.
