Naeem Muhammad is an experienced nonprofit professional who has spent nearly 20 years in positions of increasing responsibility with Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA). His dedication to the nonprofit, which he joined in 2002, has allowed it to better fulfill its vision of eradicating poverty from the world by reaching out to people and communities in
need. With Naeem Muhammad’s help, IRUSA provides multifaced aid and development across five continents.
Naeem Muhammad was first hired by IRUSA as a development coordinator. After five years in the position, he took on responsibilities as national events manager, followed by a 2010 promotion to regional fund development manager. In 2011, he left IRUSA to serve as development director of the UK-based charity Small Kindness, which he also guided as interim CEO.
Naeem Muhammad returned to IRUSA in 2014, assuming a position as a community outreach manager. Two years later, he rose to US programs manager. Over the course of less than three years as US programs manager, he was responsible for a fourfold increase in IRUSA’s US programs portfolio, which expanded from $1.2 million to in excess of $5 million under his direction. His US programs team consisted of six staff members, whom Mr. Muhammad guided in developing, designing, and implementing domestic programs.
Naeem Muhammad’s success as US programs manager resulted in a 2018 promotion to engagement manager at IRUSA. He guided the nonprofit’s online and in-person engagement efforts in this capacity, and his accomplishments included developing a social media strategy that involved fundraising campaigns on Instagram, Facebook, and elsewhere. As a testament to his success as engagement manager, IRUSA’s peer-to-peer fundraising rose by 300 percent thanks to strategic partnerships he forged.
Today, Naeem Muhammad serves as deputy director of engagement at IRUSA. Away from the nonprofit, he is a member of the Nasheed vocal group Native Deen, with which he has released three albums and toured the world.
