Matin founded Balanced -- previously called PoundPay -- in March 2010 as a real-time alternative payments system, but started focusing specifically on marketplaces after hearing payments horror stories from several marketplace founders. Matin was employee #2 at Milo.com where he built automated product categorization tools before founding Balanced. He managed an $11MM service line in Europe for JDSU before that. Originally from Iran, Matin grew up in Maryland, where he first became obsessed about payments.
Matin finished college in three years with a BS in Computer Engineering from University of Maryland, College Park where he built DDoS prevention algorithms.
