Director and Scientific Advisory doctoral degree in Biology and Molecular Genetics after spending three years at the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics, University of Lund (Sweden). He is Professor of Genetics at the University of Valencia, where he founded the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics of Development. In his laboratory at the university, has
developed more than twenty research projects funded by various national and international organizations, and three biotechnology patents that have been transferred to the biopharmaceutical industry.
Among his contributions to the field of genomics, highlights its participation in three international consortia genome sequencing. It was scientific advisor to Roche in the area of DNA sequencing. For twelve years, since its founding in 1998 until April 2009, has been the promoter and founding partner of the firm Genome Systems SL, where he held the post of Scientific and Strategic Officer. Currently he is founder and Scientific Director of the company Valentia BioPharma and the Institute of Genomic Medicine, both located in the University of Valencia Science Park.
Other projects include collaboration with the multinational Life Technologies, in developing applications ultrasecuenciación genomes by SOLiD technology. Among his published research, it should be noted three publications in the prestigious scientific journal Nature. Currently, his research focuses on the development of genomic tools for genetic diagnosis of hereditary diseases and biopharmaceutical research to combat rare genetic diseases.
