Manlio Carrelli is CEO of Wiper, a fast-growing messaging app that uses bitcoin to bring low-cost payment and remittance options to the billions of unbanked people around the world. Carrelli was previously Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Intermedia, a global leader in cloud services and the largest independent provider of Microsoft email. He dramatically accelerated profitable growth in Intermedia's core software-as-a-service (SaaS) email business, successfully re-positioning the company after Google and Microsoft entered its market. Carrelli also drove expansion into VoIP calling and file sharing, and was instrumental in the bootstrapped company's successful $128 million sale. He re-teamed with Intermedia founder Michael Choupak to launch Wiper.
In addition to Wiper, Carrelli oversees Unison Technologies and KeKu, both Choupak-backed technology firms. Unison Technologies develops an enterprise app that replaces email for teamwork. It is in use enterprise-wide at organizations such as top market research firm NPD, leading independent mortgage bank All Western, and Morehouse University. KeKu is a profitable VoIP app with patented low-cost calling technology. More than 1 million users rely on it.
From 2005 through 2009, Carrelli was principal of The Carrelli Group where with a team of growth hackers he advised CEOs, CMOs, and heads of sales at Fortune 500 firms and venture-backed B2B SaaS and cloud companies. Carrelli previously led marketing for TradeCard (now GT Nexus), a SaaS supply chain company with $100 billion in transaction volume. TradeCard experienced explosive revenue growth during his tenure, including a 100 percent year-over-year increase in 2004. Prior to TradeCard, Carrelli was a marketing director at Managed Objects, where he played a critical role in developing the concepts behind Business Service Management – an enterprise software market that generates billions of dollars in annual license revenue. Managed Objects was acquired by Novell.
