Kenneth M. Woolley currently serves as Executive Chairman of Extra Space Storage, Inc. (NYSE “EXR”). Mr. Woolley founded the company and served as Chairman and CEO from 1977 to 2009 when he resigned to serve a voluntary three-year mission for his church. Mr. Woolley has been involved in the self-storage industry since 1977. He has been directly
responsible for developing 180 self-storage properties and acquiring over 625 self-storage properties throughout the United States. From 1979 to 1998, he was a Professor at Brigham Young University. Mr. Woolley has also developed more than 10,000 apartment units. Mr. Woolley holds a BA in physics from Brigham Young University and an MBA and PhD in business from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
