Jonas Nicholson is the Vice President of Digital Connected Solutions at KPIT Technologies. He was a former Director, Automotive Industry Technology Strategy at Microsoft. Rejoining Microsoft in June of 2018, he is responsible for the development of Microsoft’s global Automotive industry technology strategy. Leveraging the breadth and depth of
Microsoft technologies along with partner solutions, Jonas focuses on strategy and business development in the areas of connected vehicles and smart mobility. Jonas has 19 years of experience building and delivering successful hardware and software products and services around new and emerging technologies. He originally joined the Microsoft WinCE Automotive team in 2000, working on the original Toyota G-Book project in Japan, Fiat’s Blue and Me in Turin, Italy followed by early work in the Ford Sync program. At Tweddle Group Technologies (TGT) in 2009, he designed and built the underlying server and mobile handset technologies that drove the “Toyota Entune,” “Lexus Enform App Suite” and “Chrysler Uconnect App.” During his tenure at TGT, he successfully led the company to acquisition by Nuance Communications. As CTO of OpenCar, his leadership and experience with the acquisition process led to another successful company buyout, this time by Kirkland-based Inrix. Jonas comes to Microsoft most recently from Kymeta, where he led the engineering and product development of a holographic beam-forming satellite Ku Band satellite antenna and the supporting Azure-based Virtual Network.
