John, Managing Partner at San Francisco-based Hidden Hill Partners, has over 20 years of executive management and operations experience with high tech consumer electronics and manufacturing companies.
From 2011 to 2013, John held the position of VP of Operations at Nest, makers of the Nest Learning Thermostat (acquired by Google in 2014), where he was responsible for the company's worldwide manufacturing, distribution, installation and service operations.
Prior to joining Nest, John was GM at Sling Media, the digital media company that develops and markets the Slingbox and SlingPlayer technologies. He was a key member of the management team responsible for growing Sling from a startup technology company to being acquired by Echostar Corporation (Nasdaq: SATS), the Denver based video technology provider.
Before Sling, John worked at Handspring (acquired by Palm) and Iomega Corporation. He also spent 10 years in the strategic and operations consulting practices of Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting, now Accenture. He has extensive international experience having worked in England, the Netherlands and Australia, before moving to the US in 1994.
John has a BA in Economics from the University of Manchester and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
