Henri Tchen is Principal and co-founder of Synapse Capital LLC, a management and advisory firm engaged in private equity investments in medical technology, biotech, cleantech (wind and solar energy), and oil & gas.
From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Tchen was the first CFO of Kingston Technology Company where he negotiated the sale of 80% of the
company to Softbank Corporation for $1.9 billion for its two founders in 1996 and its buy-back from Softbank for $450 million three years later. From 1989 to 1994, he was the Director of Strategic Planning and Real Estate for Dah Chong Hong Group, a real estate and mega-auto dealer based in New York. The company was a subsidiary of the Hang Chong Group in Hong Kong which was bought by CITIC Pacific.
Mr. Tchen spent more than 16 years in large money center banks in New York, advising Fortune 500 companies, leading large infrastructure and power projects with EXIMBANK and acting as co-Agent in all the major LBOs. He also structured complex financings such as the first aircraft engine leasing program for GE, SNECMA (France) and GPA (Ireland).
Mr. Tchen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Economics from the University of Brussels, Belgium, where he graduated summa cum laude and a MBA from Columbia University.
