Harry Newman is SWIFT’s Head of Banking with strategic responsibility for a series of key market initiatives, including SWIFT’s global payments innovation (gpi), business intelligence, corporates and reference data offers.
Previously he has been closely involved in payment system innovation and regulation in EMEA across both banking and
securities systems such as TARGET2, TARGET2 for Securities, Euro1. More recently he was SWIFT’s Programme for the development of Australia’s New Payments Platform (NPP).
Newman has 20 years’ experience in financial markets and market infrastructures globally, designing and managing RTGS systems and SWIFT’s role in RTGS systems. Before joining SWIFT, Harry worked for APACS in the UK, where he project managed the development of CHAPS Sterling RTGS and CHAPS Euro RTGS as well as working on retail payment system development.
Newman is a British citizen.
