Guru strives to accomplish business goals, primarily by building and improving software systems. In doing so, he relishes the opportunity to learn new skills and to strengthen old ones, and the camaraderie of working with others to solve difficult challenges.
Of the roles that he can play, he feels most confident in his ability to contribute to a
web application as an engineer. Over his career, though, he has come to appreciate that software is primarily about people. Software is written by people, for people, and the feelings and goals of people are always at the root of any project. So in doing technical work he strivea to empathize with his team and his users and to remember that software is not just about the computer, but about people.
Beyond work, what drives him? Well, on Saturday morning, people will find him paddling out at Ocean Beach, also on Sunday and maybe even Wednesday if he gets up early enough and the swell is good. He really likes surfing.
