Frederick L. Kitson is an executive vice president and chief technology officer at DTS. Previously, he was the vice president of applications, content, and services research center of excellence at Motorola.
Prior to joining Motorola, Kitson worked at Hewlett-Packard as the senior director of mobile and media systems lab with teams in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. and led various efforts related to multimedia coding, lossless compression, mobile content delivery, and video-on-demand systems.
Kitson was given the distinguished achievement award in 2013 from the University of Delaware. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at his alma mater, the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni in 2001. He was the 1991-1992 Clyde Chair visiting associate professor at the University of Utah’s computer science department and has taught at the University of California-Berkeley and Colorado State University. Kitson holds seven granted patents.
