Elwin Groenevelt (1969) is the founder and CEO of Qredits Microfinance in the Netherlands. Elwin studied business administration for the financial sector in Amsterdam and graduated in 1994.
He started his financial services career as a management trainee at Credit Lyonnais Bank in the Netherlands. Upon completion, he became Senior Account
Manager for a commercial bank, i.e. Generale Bank. During the merger of Generale and Fortis, he was a staff member of the board of directors. Following the merger, Elwin was employed in 2000 as a Branch Manager for Fortis Bank, in the Retail Banking Division. He advanced to District Manager in 2002 and in 2004 was promoted to Regional Director of the eastern part of the Netherlands.
In 2006, during his tenure with Fortis Bank, Elwin initiated the successful project Microfinance in the Netherlands at Fortis. As a result of this success, Elwin was asked to work with the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Hague to help set up the first national microfinance program in the Netherlands.
In 2009, Elwin founded Qredits, the only nationally operating microfinance institution in the Netherlands.
