Derek joined Innovation Capital as Chief Financial Officer in 2012.
After graduating from University of Otago Derek worked with Deloitte in Auckland, as part of their venture capital team. He then moved to London where he worked with HSBC before moving onto a financial advisory and private equity firm called Winghaven Partners.
In 2006 he was
seconded to an investee company as finance director. In his time there he helped build the business into one of Virgin's Fast 100 growing businesses, through a number of acquisitions. In 2011 he moved to Sydney and established an online furniture retail business. Prior to joining Innovation Capital Derek was also the CFO of the internet retailer OO.com.au
