As Chief Executive and Chairman of GRID Finance, Derek has led the development of the peer to peer lending space in Ireland. Inspired by his time working in Uganda (As Head of Finance) and Haiti (Country Director), with aid agency GOAL, Derek returned to Ireland in 2013 and founded GRID, a small business peer to peer lender. Originally focused on
highly flexible small, unsecured loans GRID in 2016 will increase their loan sizes and begin delivering secured loans. Derek has also co-founded Ireland’s non-bank finance umbrella group IFP Ireland and is engaged with the Irish government to support the space. Derek is also a chartered accountant who has worked previously with Goodbody Stockbrokers, Ernst and Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dublin, Boston and Los Angeles.
