David Richman is a member of The Carlyle Group's private credit group where he serves as the Deputy Chief Investment Officer, is a senior originator and head of the consumer sector team. He specializes in originating private credit investment opportunities in first lien, second lien, unitranche loans, junior capital and equity co-investments.
Prior to joining The Carlyle Group, Mr. Richman was a senior originator in the Corporate Credit group at Guggenheim Partners. Before Guggenheim, Mr. Richman was a Managing Director at GE Capital where he originated senior secured loans for private equity backed buyouts and recapitalizations in the restaurant and franchise sectors.
Prior to GE Capital, Mr. Richman worked in middle market private equity, primarily at Fenway Partners in New York. At Fenway he analyzed investments, negotiated M&A transactions and financings, engaged in operational improvements and sat on corporate boards of directors. Mr. Richman started his finance career as an investment banking analyst at UBS Warburg in London, where he worked on cross border M&A transactions.
Mr. Richman received an A.B. degree, cum laude, from Georgetown University where he majored in Economics and served as a member of the Board of Governors from 2013 until 2016. He is a Vice Chairman of the Board of the Friends of Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Mr. Richman also sat on the Executive Advisory Board of Glade Brook Capital Partners, a Greenwich, CT-based alternative investment manager until 2017.
